ons of human kind. However, laws can sometimes be unjust because people making the laws ca
nnot consider the holistic picture and put personal bias in. The existence of both just an
d unjust laws is unquestionable, but it’s not justifiable to only obey the just laws and d
isobey the unjust laws. On the other hand, resisting unjust laws and speaking out the opin
ions are important. Some may argue that it’s not effective to only resisting while they ob
ey the unjust laws, but they overlook the facts that the potential chaos they are going to
create by disobeying the laws, and also that they may put their own personal biases in wh
en they are looking at the laws that’re made by others.People, now living in well-formed s
ocieties, have the responsibility to obey the laws, and at the same time, have the right t
o enjoy the beneficial effects of laws; however, it’s never a good idea to disobey the exi
sting laws. To be more precise, one particular person, seeing the laws as unjust, disobeyi
ng the laws is going to hurt other people’s rights and therefore create unjust opportunity
for him or herself. Moreover, disobeying laws have high prices for the society as a whole
, and for that particular individual as well. For the society, people disobeying the laws
will create chaos and turbulence because laws are presented for the purpose of maintaining
orders and peace in the society. For the individual, he or she may face the penalties for
breaking the laws and polices won’t take whether the laws are just or unjust into conside
ration. Therefore, it’s important to obey the laws, no matter if the laws are just or unju
st.On the other hand, it’s important to point out when a law is unjust for the sake of the
society as a whole, but in a peaceful and acceptable way. Given the large population nowa
days, it’s impossible to gather everyone’s opinion before finalizing the laws. More common
ly, the authorities are going to make the laws and execute them accordingly. However, sinc
e the authorities cannot consider the complete picture sometimes, they are going to have b
lind spots and therefore make unjust laws. It’s, therefore, important to listen to the pub
lic voices and constantly editing and updating the laws. For example, having public emails
addresses that people can send their thoughts to; also, conducting recurring surveys that
ask for people’s satisfaction. In other words, it’s people’s rights to speak up their con
cerns towards laws, but resisting doesn’t necessarily mean disobeying or breaking. Some peo
ple may argue that resisting and speaking out are not enough because authorities tend to b
e not willing to change their decisions, but they fail to take their personal bias into co
nsideration in this case. They think that resisting by disobeying may be the best way to m
ake themselves be heard. However, disobeying is not the complement for resisting, and it w
ill make people who want to resist to be the one that’re being unjust and not reasonable.
Furthermore, when people trying to catch the biases of the authorities, they often turn ou
t to overlook the fact that they themselves may be biased as well. While the authorities h
ave more experience making the laws, and they often try their best to consider the holisti
c picture, it’s more possible for individuals to have biases because they are more incline
d to consider their own interests. In conclusion, it’s always not a good idea to disobey th
e laws; however, it’s also important to express people’s opinions to the law-makers, just
not to be too blinded with the personal biases.
